Main Jets

Can someone give me some Main jet 101? I'm trying to understand them in regards to temperature. I understand altitude, but not so much with temps. Also, is there a "guide" as far as what to use in what temps/altitudes for a base line? Any info appreciated.

New Sled for Wife

I'm thinking about upgrading my wifes sled from an '06 Polaris 340 Classic to an '06 FS Classic (non turbo). Does anyone have any experience with these machines? She only has about 500 miles under her belt and the 340 is great, but she needs a little more umph. I believe the FS puts out about 80 hp. I was wondering about comfort, handling and weight. Thanks.

RE: Thumb Fatigue

We did buy a sled for her this spring. It was an '06 340 Classic. We've put about a 100 miles on it so far and it's a great little sled. Perfect for a beginner with electric start, reverse, mirrors, warmers and accessory outlet. The throttle pull is light, but I was still worried about her on long trips. We road for several hours the other day and she seemed fine, so it may not be an issue. Thanks.

RE: Thumb Fatigue

Thanks a lot! I think I'm going to start out with the Throttle Gizmo. My Dad actually lives in Wasilla where the product is made. Suprised I haven't heard about it.

Thumb Fatigue

My wife is new to snowmobiling and already has trouble with her right hand due to work, what is on the market to help reduce thumb fatigue? I don't want her to be miserable if we take some longer rides this winter. Thanks.

2006 MXZ 500SS

Well we got our first snow yesterday. I fired up my 500SS for the first time to find it won't idle or run at low speed. It will run with half choke. I made a few passes down the field thinking it was the fogging oil or the stabil in the tank. I added fresh fuel and after putting about 5-10 miles on it, still nothing. I'm thinking something has plugged one of the jets in the carb. Any ideas? I also changed the plugs out, nothing different. The sled is new and only has 70 miles on it (put on it last spring). I stored my wife's 2006 340 Classic the same way and it fired right up with no problems.
